Start Strong Director Ciairín de Buis appeared on the RTE Six One News to talk about our reaction to the newly published report of the Interdepartmental Working Group: Future Investment in Childcare in Ireland.
In the interview she welcomes the findings of the report, which include advancements in parental leave, extending the Free Pre-School Year and reforming and extending the existing schemes so that childcare becomes more affordable.
However, she also expresses concern over the lack of a timeframe for implementation of these proposals, as well as a lack of assessment on issues of paternity leave and low pay for those working in the sector.
