Children 2020: Cost-Benefit Analysis - November 2011
- CHILDREN 2020: COST-BENEFIT ANALYSIS (910 KB)
Following publication of our report Children 2020: Planning Now, For the Future, we asked Goodbody Economic Consultants to carry out a cost-benefit analysis of the proposals contained in the Children 2020 report and to estimate the potential returns to investment in early care and education in Ireland.
Using cautious assumptions about the potential benefits, Goodbody’s analysis points to a strong likelihood that even a high-cost scenario – i.e. a significant upgrade to our system of early care and education – would bring a return on investment that readily exceeds the level of return typically required in Department of Finance programme evaluations.
